And then there was Issue #2…

It has been a busy week for me as a Human Data Expert!

If prepping this publication wasn't enough work, I enjoyed my very first project with Uber AI Solutions, as well as onboarding with Datamundi where I'll be recording some daily tasks.

Thankfully, the awesome folks at micro1 are still also showing faith in me with projects one year after I became certified, so yes busy, but extremely grateful.

Bear with me as I tweak the overall layout from week to week, while finding an ideal way to present you with the type of news and opportunities I hope you find valuable.

Fast forward to Human Data Jobs Weekly Issue #2 I am delighted to showcase LinkedIn as the featured Human Data Platform, together with how to apply for LinkedIn train AI projects, and who is best suited.

As promised we're also highlighting the ever-growing opportunities for you to work for one of the platforms as a core member of staff.

And as much as I wish I didn't need to include the 'Dark Side' section, it's very important to be aware of the less-than-ideal happenings in our industry, so you can navigate some of the opportunities offered by platform and practitioners alike, with caution.

This article, written in April 2026, set me on a mission to gather more information regarding potential opportunities via a platform many of us are already on.

AI training is booming — and LinkedIn wants a piece of the pie. The careers networking site is in the early stages of launching an "AI labor marketplace" where people can make up to $150 an hour training AI chatbots to get better at everything from coding to nursing to finance, LinkedIn confirmed to Business Insider.

LinkedIn Program Manager Emily Miller posted the following:

Each week will include a link to a long-form interview with a Human Data Platform CEO, and during his chat with Nakul Mandan Handshake co-founder Garrett Lord was bullish about the role and need for human data.

The key takeaway from this interview is Handshake's wholesale refounding around AI training, describing the role of human data experts as essential infrastructure for the AI economy, not temporary labour filling a short-lived gap.

How long have you been a Human Data Expert: Since 2023, so a little over three years.

What you like about it: I like that this work requires careful thinking, domain knowledge, and intellectual honesty. In AI evaluation, especially in STEM and education-related tasks, small details matter. I enjoy identifying where a model is accurate, where it fails, and how human judgment can help improve AI systems.

What could be better: The work would benefit from clearer guidelines, more consistent QA standards, paid preparation time, better feedback, and more predictable task availability. Many experienced contributors bring real expertise, but the conditions do not always reflect the value of that expertise.

Additional thoughts: I recently launched an independent survey on working conditions in AI training, evaluation, data annotation, rubric writing, QA, and domain expert review. My goal is to collect structured evidence about what helps or harms the quality of human data work. I believe that if companies want better AI systems, they also need to understand the people behind the evaluation process: how they are trained, supported, paid, reviewed, and respected.

While there are many opportunities to have location-independent freelance work as a Human Data Expert, many platforms are also looking for core team members. Here are a few platforms looking to fill remote, full-time positions:

If there is any 'secret wish' regarding the reputation of Train AI Media™ it would be for us to have a reputation of impartiality.

And while 'Fair - Objective - Neutral' are and will remain the big promise throughout the Train AI Media™ platforms…

We have an obligation to serve the Human Data industry as a whole, meaning there will need to be honest conversations taking place from both an expert and platform standpoint.

More and more groups on Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram and Reddit have admins claiming to provide access to projects - for a fee.

While another increasing scenario is where unable to get onto to the platforms directly for a number of reasons, are offering to work under the banner of others.

While short-term desperation can make us do some silly things without what it may mean for us in the long-term…

I do think the platforms themselves need to do more in the way of getting in and among these groups, ensuring they are not fraudulently represented.
